PROCESS
Week 4
Fig. 1.1 Task 2 progression in Miro, Week 4 (24/4/2023)
Based on our initial ideas generated in Week 1, we shortlisted 2 ideas (per member) that suited the aim of this project - spreading awareness of proper disposal of inhalers and blister packs.
Shortlisted Ideas
Fig. 1.2 "the flowers can't conceal our rot forever." - sketch, Week 4 (24/4/2023)
1. "the flowers can't conceal our rot forever.":
- Flowers growing & dying from a landfill of inhalers & blister packs.
- 1 or 2 flowers are still alive, while others are dead.
- Message: Our landfills are potential nature reserves, save them while we still can.
- Meaning: We can't keep turning a blind eye to our increasing landfills.
- To spread awareness of proper disposal of inhalers & blister packs & the consequences if we neglect them.
2. "the reefs we killed":
- Design: Stacked/layered blister packs to create the form of coral reefs, painted in an array of colours.
- Like we're making a man-made coral reef to replace the ones we killed.
- Message: our negligence in disposing of inhalers & blister packs is killing coral reefs.
- Meaning: the coral reefs that were destroyed by medical waste pollution.
- To spread awareness of sea pollution from improper disposal of inhalers & blister packs.
After each member contributed 2 shortlisted ideas, I grouped them into themes:
Contaminated Ocean:
1. Wave of Waste (Devina) & hanging fishes (Luisa & Shaocheng)
- All ocean concepts with the approach of a hanging art installation.
- All incorporate fish.
2. the reefs we killed (Tressa)
- Focus more on the sea environment.
Human Actions:
1. the flowers can't conceal our rot forever. (Tressa)
2. the reefs we killed (Tressa)
3. The Stag (Shaocheng)
Recycling:
1. Virtuous Cycle (Sea)
I asked my group members for any feedback and suggestions on the finalising of ideas, but no input was given so we proceeded to finalise 4 ideas:

After recording our presentation, we discussed which idea(s) to explore in prototyping. Majority decided to go with the Wave of Waste idea 1.1 and the Stag.
FEEDBACKS
Week 4: No consultation, Hari Raya holiday.
NEXT COURSE OF ACTION
Week 4:
- Planning for prototype making
- Gathering of materials
- Begin making prototypes for Wave of Waste (1.1) and the Stag (4)

REFLECTION
Experience
Developing our ideas in Task 2 was somewhat more fun to do compared to Task 1. The process was also quicker this time, which made it feel more simple.
Observation
Majority of my group mates came up with nature-based ideas for our sculpture, with prominent themes of human consequences concept. Regardless of the similar themes, the approaches varied, which made room for more brainstorming and merged ideas.
